How Martha Stewart and Michael J. Fox Got Oiled With Essential Oils

May 26th, 2007 steve No comments

(The following is a story about how a distributor of Young Living Essential Oils
helped introduce the oils to Donna Karan, Martha Stewart and Michael J. Fox
The reason this is important is because people with large followings are very influential.
As a reader of this blog you are already learning the power of these Essential Oils.)

So here is how it all happened!

Donna Karan has been in my downline for about 8 years or so. My friend Ruth
is her bodyworker and right hand person. It took me about 4 years of showing,
sharing and giving Ruth bodywork sessions to inspire her enough to begin to
use Young Living Essential Oils on her clients. Donna Karan has sold them in her store in New
York before as well and even met with Gary Young many many years ago in Utah.

Ruth called me about 3 months ago to ask me if there was any way I could get
Gary Young to speak at her Urban Zen Symposium. I contacted Young Living and
it took some time but I stayed persistent because I knew this was important and
big for the future medicine on our planet and for Young Living.

Gary was not available at this time as he was in Europe teaching but Dr. Hill agreed to go.
I myself flew to New York to help with the oils and answer all the peoples questions and
help educate and of course support Dr. Hill and Young Living in anyway I could. Young Living
was VERY generous and donated a little box of oils to every participant that day which there was I think
about 250 mostly all nurses that day.

There was a panel of about maybe 10 doctors, health practitioners etc.. It was all centered on the care of nurses and
patients. It was an open forum for the nurses to ask questions and have the
panel answer. I got a call from Ruth that night looking for Dr. Hill as
Donna Karan was very moved and impressed with Dr. Hill mostly with his heart and
consciousness. Actually Donna spoke more about the oils than Dr. Hill well
from that many many important big connections were being made and she was wanting
to introduce Dr. Hill to some very very big time doctors and Health care
practitioners of all kinds. I too made some very important connections as well.
Dr. Hill spent 5 days at the symposium which was great for him to make these
connections. These connections will need to be nurtured in time. So then Martha
Stewart had asked Donna Karan what were the 3 biggest things that changed
your life and she replied….

right nutrition,
Yoga and
Young Living Oils!!!

So then a brilliant doctor/nutritionist, Rodney Yee (master yoga teacher)
and Dr. Hill were all asked to come on the show. I went
to the show to help and be supportive in any way I could. I went to the
rehearsal and it was a beautiful set and i saw the whole presentation that was
about 5 or more minutes with Dr. Hill but very unfortunately they ran behind
schedule with all the different guests. I was sitting in the green room just
biting my nails watching these commercial breaks and watching the clock tick away
and doing EVERYTHING to “bend time” and what was truly supposed to be 5 or 7
minutes was only about a minute. However it would not surprise me one bit if
Martha asked Dr. Hill to come back again. Dr. Hill said Martha was putting
oils all over heself between commercial breaks and just LOVES the oils!!
Especially if enough of us go to her website and write that request!! Lets do
it!!!!!!!

Now another cool thing was that I was anointing everyone in the green
room right before they went on Lorraine Braco, Rodney Yee, the Indian female
doctor, Donna Karan and her partner for the symposium, Sonja. it of course shifted
everyone so much. i basically just put a drop of peppermint on their finger
for them to lick off to get that oxygen right to their brain as we know
peppermint increases oxygen in the brain by 28% just my inhaling it. So you can imagin
e a room full of people all feeling this and then within minutes going on
national TV!! I loved this part!!

Once again Young Living was VERY generous and donated that starter kit of the i think 10
oils to each and every audience member at the Martha Stewart show as well

I made a very amazing connection as well with this amazing Indian female
doctor who was on the show for a few minutes as well. she has group of medical
students I think 7 of them and she has asked me if i would come and teach them
essential oil classes!! I of course said Yes! And then of course asked Dr. Hill
to support me in this. He is the one with the “DR.” before his name. I will be
in touch with her soon. I was able to share with her how I personally did my
entire post surgery without any pain meds and using only Gary’s pain formula
and she was amazed!! Well, that is it in a nutshell. I am off back to giving
all my bodywork sessions now and then home to Oregon to rest for 2 days!! :)

Many Blessings to us all
With Love,
Julie Chertow

P.S. We also got a few oils in the hands of Michael J. Fox who was also at
the symposium!!
YEA! YEA! YEA!!!!

Essential Oils For Natural Pest Control

February 27th, 2007 steve No comments

Essential Oils For Things that Bug You Around the House
by David Stewart, Ph.D., R.A.

Among the many chemicals in our industrial environment that
get into our systems and make us sick are the pesticides we
use in our homes. We use them because they are toxic to the
creatures that bug us, but they are also toxic to us. Sometimes
the toxicity is immediately apparent: we get a headache, get
sick or feel nauseous from the fumes or other contact.

Sometimes the toxicity is subtle and can accumulate resulting
in chronic complaints and disorders (including allergies, cancer
and miscarriages) that can be serious and even deadly over
time. Sometimes we even put poisons on our pets to deal with
ticks and fleas, not realizing that these substances are not
healthy for us nor our animals.

~^~How to Use Oils for Pest Control

As YLEO distributors, we don’t need poisons to kill pests. We
can repel them (and even sometimes kill them) with substances
that are not only harmless to us but are actually healthful
to us. To the right is a list of oils that will solve most of your
pest problems around the house.

And how do you use them? One way is to get a pistol-grip squirt
bottle. Mix a few drops of the oil with some water, shake it up,
and start firing. If you have bugs on your plants, like aphids on
your roses, you can squirt the leaves and drive the bugs away
with no harm to your plant. You can do the same with the other
pests. As for ants, you can smear a line of peppermint or
spearmint across your kitchen counter or floor and the ants
won’t cross it. If you already have a line of ants invading your
house, just draw a line of oil across them and they will turn back.
It is fun to watch. And as for flies, you can knock them dead
right out of the air with one shot from your pistol grip.

~^~A Brown Recluse Experiment

Seeing how squirting a peppermint-water spray would kill flies
in mid-air, I wondered what pure oil would do. So I did an
experiment on a brown recluse spider. I captured a live one in
a jar and carefully placed one drop of peppermint on one side.
The pure peppermint repelled the spider who crowded to the
otherside to avoid the oil. When I tipped the jar to force the
spider to fall into the oil, it merely squirmed and got away,
still repelled by the oil, but not apparently harmed. Then I put
a drop of water with the oil and tipped the jar so that the
spider slid into the water and oil together and, instantly, it
shrivled up died.

Conclusion: The oil alone is an insect repellant. Combined with
water, it is an insecticide.

~^~Safe Insect Repellants

As far as repellants go, when you go into the woods and fields,
put a little lavender around your ankles, wrists, and waist-band
and you won’t have to worry about chiggers or ticks (or Lyme
Disease of Rocky Mountain Spotted Tick Fever). Lemongrass,
sage or thyme would work, too, but might irritate your skin so
put it on your pant cuffs and shirt sleeves.

As for your pets, you can put oils such as Purification, around
their necks and backs, but watch to keep oils from around their
eyes.

So there you have it. Non-toxic pest control.

Essential Oils For Hot Flashes – Two Testimonials

January 27th, 2007 steve No comments

“A lady came by and ask, “What do I have for Hot Flashes?” I took what I had, Peppermint Oil, and put a couple drops in her hand and she rubbed it on the back of her neck and chest area. Instantly the hot flash stopped. She bought a bottle of Peppermint Oil on the spot.”

” I was having Hot Flashes a lot and I would dress in layers, for the “Take it off, put it on” Syndrome. I was attending some training by Marcella Vonn Harting and Cherie Ross. Cherie gave me some drops of Clary Sage in my hand and I put it on the outside of my ankles, by my ears and back of neck, then inhaled the wonderful smell. My hot flashes stopped and that was over a year ago.”

The Essential Oil of Peppermint

January 22nd, 2007 steve No comments

Peppermint is one of the most popular herbs used in today’s society.

Peppermint has a long history of unique uses. Aristotle (circa 384-322 BCE) referenced peppermint in his writings as an aphrodisiac. Alexander the Great (356-323 BCE) forbade his soldiers to have peppermint because it was thought to promote erotic thoughts and deplete soldiers of the desire to fight. Arabs used peppermint in their social drinks as a virility stimulant and Romans would spread peppermint on their floors to help get rid of pests.

Peppermint has many modern uses worldwide. Leaf preparations are made from either fresh or dried leaves, while the oil is distilled from freshly-harvested sprigs.4Many believe that peppermint is too intense for subtle dishes, but leaves or their essential oil are commonly found in tea, chocolate, confections, chewing gum, jellies, and sauces.5 Peppermint can also be added to chilled soups or rice on warm days to help cool down the body.

Essential Oils, Essential Oils and Other Products for Celiac

November 12th, 2006 steve No comments

(Comment from Get Oiled: Celiac is an adverse reaction generally associated with wheat including anything made with white flour. The following is information found regarding success in managing this problem. The authors are unknown. The information may be helpful.)

________________

I have two awesome cookbooks/information books on Celiac.

a.. Incredible Edible Gluten-Free Food for Kids: 150 Family-Tested Recipes
by Sheri L. Sanderson

b.. Kids with Celiac Disease : A Family Guide to Raising Happy, Healthy,
Gluten-Free Children by Danna Korn

Also here are some good websites to look at and read up on information:

http://familydoctor.org/handouts/236.html

http://www.enabling.org/ia/celiac/

You can get gluten-free products from The Gluten Free Pantry:
http://www.glutenfreepantry.com/. Hope that helps for now.

Two thoughts from the top of my head. Being gluten free requires the use of
a product called xanthan gum to use as a binder in many recipes. It’s
pricey, $10 for a little bag of it. Another thing I thought of is that many
gluten-free books recommend eating millet as a grain that won’t bother
celiac. Yuck! We bought a whole bunch of it and no one will eat it because
it’s icky.

Bob’s Red Mill carries quite a few gluten-free mixes. They take some
getting used to, but it’s a lot better than what I could come up with on my
own. It’s so much harder to just throw something together (like baked
goods) when you have to use a whole combination of different flours and none
of them are traditional.

We haven’t ever gone totally gluten free. Sometimes we do better than
others. It’s hard! I love to bake and I love wheat, so it’s pretty tough.
My son seems to do pretty good these days, so we aren’t sure what to think.
I also went to my library and was able to find a few gluten-free cookbooks.
If you haven’t already tried that, it’s an extra resource. Some gluten-free
cookbooks are a little frustrating because the recipes are totally
not-normal (they don’t even sound edible)! The books I mentioned above are
both really good because they have recipes that you would actually EAT.
Hope that helps! Marie Greene

Some of you may know that I have been working on cleansing my liver to heal
a Celiac condition that I have struggled with for many years. Last April I
started with a raw food diet and the Rejuvenate Program for about 5 months
(raw food 100% for about 3 months). I am updating you that still after not
taking the Rejuvenate products for about 4 months, I am actually able to eat
organic sprouted rye, kamut, spelt bread and also some organic cheese. The
dairy seems to leave me with mucus but no stomachache, diarrhea or skin
eruption like I used to have. I get small dark circles under my eyes when I
eat the bread but no stomach ache, no cramping, in fact my bowels work
better! I am really starting to believe that Celiac condition is a
condition of a congested liver! I am working slowly to detox my liver a
little at a time every day and will integrate the Rejuvenate products into
my diet again, as we can. I purchased JuvaCleanse this past order and it’s
on its way and ComforTone. I will try working with these and see what
transpires but I want to share this progress with you all because anyone who
has been diagnosed with Celiac condition has most likely been told it is
with them for life. I am doing this very carefully and very slowly, but I
was diagnosed as Celiac at age 10. I am now 35 and it seems to be leaving
me. I have been on a dairy free diet since age 17. I am going to start
experimenting with raw goat milk Kefir and see how that affects me. O types
are not great with dairy and I am an O but I will see how it goes. One
thing that I have also had happen is that 2 days ago I was exposed to “white
flour” by mistake. I had a FULL Celiac response and am still recovering.
BUT I have had no such responses to sprouted organic or organic raw or whole
grains. Here’s to “anything is possible”! Robyn Grant

Just my 2 bits – millet sautéed in olive oil before adding water and with
garlic and veggies added is yummy! I guess that person never tried that or
she might not have said that about millet! Also – and most importantly -
you can use chickpea (garbanzo) flour to substitute for wheat flour in
almost any recipe with great results. If you want to make a yeast-based
bread like pizza dough or regular bread, you do need the xanthan gum but
otherwise, just use the chickpea flour as if it were wheat. I’ve made
cakes, muffins, brownies and cookies as well as coated things for frying in
coconut oil with GREAT results! Bob’s Red Mill makes the chickpea flour and
for savory items, they make a wonderful chickpea-fava bean flour mix that is
more expensive but worth it for some things. Try coating okra in it and
frying gently in coconut oil – amazing! Julia

My husband has been living with Celiac for five years. He is
somewhat stubborn about trying YL products. He does however swear
by peppermint oil. He is currently having a reaction to gluten and
used it on the headache and intenstinal problems that accompany it.
I dilute the peppermint in a carrier oil and massage it clockwise on
the abdomen. If there is an area that is intensely painful I will
apply one drop of pure peppermint oil to it. This usually provides
relief. I just prevailed upon him to try NR juice. He was in bed
in agony, drank one ounce of NR, and was up in a half an hour taking
the trash out. He won’t admit it was the NR of course. He also has
clinical hypoglycemia which frequently goes with celiac. Last week
he was having a severe episode. I gave him one Longevity capsule
(the new formula) and he had no blood sugar problems for the next
two days. I highly recommend the book “Breaking the Vicious Cycle:
Intestinal Health Through Diet” by Elaine Gloria Gottschall. My
husband stayed on this diet for a year to heal the damage in his
small intestine. Now he is able to eat a greater variety of foods
with fewer problems.
