Young Living Lavender Farms
From the original quarter acre in Gary’s backyard in 1989 to today’s rapidly expanding 4,500 acres on three continents, our farms have provided some of our most valuable knowledge and trade secrets that contribute to our unsurpassed quality.

We welcome distributors and visitors alike to visit the Young Living Lavender Farm in Mona, Utah, and see our entire operation, including Gary’s original proprietary design for low-temperature and low-pressure spiral vortex steam distillation. This exacting method maximizes the extraction of the delicate compounds that often have the most therapeutic effect.. Our facility in Mona, Utah, is the largest privately owned distillery operation for aromatic plants in the world. Our distillery in Ecuador houses the largest single 14,500-liter cooker in North, Central, and South America.

• Sustainable Supply

As more and more distillators sell their oils to the perfume and food flavoring industry, Young Living Lavender Farms are working to ensure the continued supply of well-known therapeutic-grade oils such as lavender, peppermint, clary sage, and melissa,as well as rare oils like helichrysum, goldenrod, and cistus. With our new farm in Ecuador, we have added new and exclusive oils like Palo Santo, dorado azul, blue eucalyptus, cedaron and ruta. The year-round growing climate of this farm gives us the opportunity to produce many more oils that are in short supply throughout the world. Because of the vast diversity of the ecosystems in Ecuador, we will continue to acquire other farms in different regions, allowing us to grow and produce oils of different climates. The next farm will be in the tops of the Andes mountains where plants such as lavender grow well.

Therapeutic-Grade Quality
Eighteen years ago Gary Young created the term therapeutic-grade. There was not then, and there is not now, an organization other than Young Living Essential Oils qualified to certify an essential oil as therapeutic-grade.

• Focus

No one has more experience than Gary Young growing, harvesting, and distilling essential oils, and certainly no one has more experience using essential oils from household cleaning to everyday health and wellness as well as vast medical applications in a clinical setting. He has led chemists, scientists, botanists, agronomists, and essential oil experts with the single purpose of ensuring that the Young Living standard represents the oils’ optimal natural constituent profile.

We continually combine our expanding world knowledge with years of experience analyzing thousands of oil batches and the accompanying GC and MS analyses. To further ensure quality, we constantly check our results against trusted third-party laboratories. Especially helpful for us are long-time relationships with prestigious organizations like AFNOR and ISO and the benchmarks they have established. However, we cannot solely rely on them for our internal standard. The fact that we have distilled, analyzed, and conducted research on such a large variety of plants from around the world places our knowledge and standard at an even higher level.

We consider the trust our customers place in us an honor and want to educate and protect them from the disappointment of lesser quality oils. Every Young Living essential oil is of the highest quality and therapeutic-grade. We do not sell essential oils that fall short of our standard. Most recently, we rejected half a million dollars of rare helichrysum when it failed to meet optimal potency. • Wisdom
  • 1990 Gary lived in southern France where he studied the art of distillation with Henry Viaud, the world’s foremost distillator of essential oils. He also studied with Marcel Espieu who was a fourth-generation lavender distillator and the president of the Lavender Growers Association of France for twenty-two years.
  • 1985 to present Gary established his own laboratory and studied at the world’s foremost essential oil universities and other areas of historical oil significance, including two universities in Turkey, two in France, one in Switzerland, Cairo University in Egypt, and Warick University in England; he also has personally explored the rich oil history in Israel, Jordan, and Oman.

  • In 1990, Gary Young developed and introduced the Raindrop Technique® using a combination of essential oils that work together for improving spinal health.
  • Through research at the British Museum Library in London, Gary discovered a legend from which he developed Thieves® essential oil blend. This blend has been tested at Weber State University to kill airborne pathogens, and this research became the basis for an entire line of hygiene, household, and wellness products.
    • In 2006 Thieves blend was proven to be totally effective against dangerous black mold through scientific research.

  • Gary’s explorations in Ecuador and Peru, partnerships with indigenous tribes, and operations are forming a pipeline of newly discovered and unique oils.

Sourcing
Our commitment to unmatched sourcing began in the early days when Gary Young traveled the world and personally inspected the crops, harvesting, and distilling operations of the suppliers of oils he did not grow himself. He would personally smell, touch, and sometimes taste the oils before purchasing. He formed partnerships with trusted suppliers with whom we continue to work today. While Gary can no longer personally test every batch, he has established rigorous requirements and protocols and has personally mentored and trained many of the scientists and professionals who watch over every step of our oil production.

Gary and Mary Young remain intensely passionate and totally immersed in the mission of the company, ensuring and expanding the future supply of therapeutic-grade essential oils. In 2004, at great personal sacrifice, Gary and Mary moved their family to Ecuador to found Young Living’s newest and largest farm.   • Cinterandes Foundation: Gary donates time and resources to travel with a volunteer team of six or seven medical doctors and staff into the jungle with the mobile surgical truck bringing health care to those who can’t afford it and where help is not available. Young Living funded a complete medical project for six villages in the Andes to establish six rural clinics.
  • Chongon School Project: Because of the deplorable condition of the small community school near the Young Living farm, we bought a small parcel of land on which we could build a new school funded by donations from Young Living distributors. It is expected to be finished in May this year.
  • Young Living Essential Oils donates precious oils to bring relief to various groups in need, including fire fighters who worked in the 9/11 disaster, and Rising Star Outreach, a mobile leprosy clinic in India.
  • You Can “Thrive” Foundation: A free clinic for breast cancer patients who cannot afford treatment. The medical staff donates their time and Young Living donates oils and nutritional products for the patients.
  • Urban Zen Foundation: Young Living donates oils and expertise as together we seek to integrate holistic health care into mainstream medicine with this not-for-profit philanthropic organization founded by fashion designer Donna Karan.

The “size” question periodically is raised by newer people being introduced to Young Living Essential Oils. The follow addresses several reasons Young Living Essential Oils are not sold in bulk.

Larger bottles are heavier, more costly to ship. The larger size would generally be cost prohibitive for a lot of people. Transporting larger bottles can easily become impractical especially when traveling by air.
When comparing the size of oil bottles to other companies, understand that other companies do not have the same quality standards as Young Living Essential Oils. As a result, many others are labeled with information that they must be diluted if used directly on the skin, and they must NEVER be taken internally. Most Young Living Essential Oils can be applied directly to the skin and taken internally.

Often people have the idea more is better which is not true for Young Living Essential Oils as they are pure, therapeutic grade essential oils. “A little drop will do ya.” Too much is overkill and a complete waste.

For those interested in applying to a larger area, use a good quality vegetable oil, such as V-6. This will not dilute the effectiveness of the oil, but it will (#1) allow the application of the oil over a larger area of skin, and (#2) diminish some of the sensation a hot oil can give, such as oregano. You will receive the same amount of beneficial action of the number of drops that are used.

Key Point – a little goes a long way and when you understand the power of these essential oils, you will begin to appreciate the cleaning and nutritional lines that include essential oils.

“Of course the oils are excellent, but it is the surprises that always get
me. I was giving a nutrition talk and I had wolfberries in one of my
recipes which I was sharing. I was sure I did not want to mix business at
this talk and when someone asked where I got the wolfberries, I froze. I
asked the administrator if I could mention a multilevel marketing company.
The answer was yes. So I mention Young Living. A woman called out, ” Oh I
want to talk to you after as I have been wanting to sign up for a long
time.” She signed up and brought in people immediately, even attended the
last conference!! You never know huh.”

“I recently had a client who ordered Ortho Sport for her husbands knee and was rubbing it in every evening. One day she noticed her thumb, which had been frozen for 20 years, was bending easily. She said the only thing different was the Ortho Sport. Just love it when it does that!!”

“Well, here is another “Instant Response” to the oils: I am a healing touch practitioner. As my client pay on the massage table, I assessed her chakra system using a pendulum so that she could see which chakras were compromised and which were open and active prior to treatment. Four of the seven were blocked.

I asked the pendulum which oils to use for her. The answer was Thieves. So I put a drop on each hand and she rubbed her hands together, inhaled the aroma and I pendled again. All of her energy centers were now open.

“For years I had joined in many home parties for many different
products and so, when I became an oiler in fall of 1996, I decided to do an
oil party fashioned on the Tupperware parties which I had attended many times.
(I believe that I was the first oiler to do that.) So, a bunch of women met
at my neighbor’s home to sniffed and dabbed on the Essential 7 and as said,
I was really new to Young Living Essential Oils and almost no literature was available, but I had the tape and took my program from it with Tupperware techniques applied.

We had such a good time that we forgot to head home before her husband came
home. The first thing he said was that he had a splitting headache and hoped
we’d all be out of there fast. I offered him some peppermint oil and Panaway
(it’s name then) and before we had gathered all our things and were out the
door, he came back out from his bedroom and told us that “amazingly” his
headache was gone and what was the hurry to leave. Needless to say, my business
got a good boost with that party and the additional others booked from it.

Every time, one could offer an oil and experience people’s reaction when
they had almost instant results was so great and of course, still is. That’s
what I love more than anything is to see people’s reactions to the fast results.

Another great thing, I believe, is rather unique to this company is the
comradery among ALL the members, regardless of the legs we are in. I have so many
friends among you all who are not in my downline, and yet, I love you as
much as those in my downline simply because you are fun folks to be with.”
